
The Eastern Regional Acting Director for National Population Council Secretariat, Mr. Kwasi Owusu Obeng has revealed that, Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey from 2017 and 2018 shows that 15-19yr old young ladies which represent 11% of them had sexual intercourse with men who are older than them 10yrs and above.
‘If this men have sex with the young ladies, it has so many implications on their life. Because this men may have different ladies or women whom they have had sex with and is very worrying,’ he opined.
Mr. Owusu Obeng adds, when this happens the young ladies are being exposed to HIV. Research indicated that, multiple sexual partners is a dangerous way of spreading the HIV when the person don’t protect himself during sexual intercourse.

He mentioned these to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH during their 2020 World Population Day Celebration under the theme: PUTTING THE BRAKES ON COVID-19 TO SAFEGUARD THE HEALTH AND RIGHTS OF WOMEN AND GIRLS NOW.
Mr. Kwasi Owusu Obeng advice parents, guidance that when their girl child attain this age, they should get closer to them, have conversation with them concerning about the man and woman relationship to know how important it is,’ to help prevent them from the unwanted teenage pregnancies.
‘Again parents must ensure that their girl child go by the education they have given them and make sure to provide them their needs so that they won’t beg for arms from any man,’ he noted.

The Acting Eastern regional Director, Department of Gender, Mrs. Juliana Abbeyquaye stressed, if we say women is part of the decision making in the country, then women must be present at any point of time whenever there is decision making going on and make sure her contribution would reflect in the final decision.
She therefore encouraged her fellow women to be bold enough to vomit out their problems because your problems can only be solved if you vomit them out.
